Preparing for an Interactive Session
- Choose a quiet, comfortable area in your home for your session.
- Reduce your environmental distractions : disconnect all other phones, pagers, cell phone, and turn off the television, etc.
- Advise others of your household to refrain from disturbing you until your session is over; plan your session at a time and in a place where you are not likely to be disturbed.
- Create an atmosphere of relaxation by lighting a candle, or burning incense and dimming the lights. Adjust the temperature as needed.
- Loosen tight clothing and belts. Remove your shoes. Set eyeglasses aside.
- Make yourself as comfortable as possible, sitting or reclining. Position yourself in a way that supports your body safely, so that you can go completely limp without the possibility of falling. Maybe cover with a blanket; lower body temperatures are common.
- A speaker-phone or headset would be best, but it is not absolutely necessary. If you do not have a either, decide beforehand, how you will position yourself and your telephone to be most comfortable during our session.
- Do not be concerned about "doing it right". The only guidelines would be for you to trust your experiences and to avoid editing your responses. Just allow your eyes to close when I ask you to close them, and focus on the sound of my voice. No need to effort.
- I would ask your analytical mind to simply allow you to have your experiences, whatever they may be, without editing. You will have plenty of time to analyze them later.
- It is normal for the mind to wander a bit during meditative awareness. If you notice your mind wandering, just bring it back to the sound of my voice.
- Please advise me if you have hearing loss.
- It is best to have quiet time afterward.
